The 8th International Human Factors Rail Conference which will be held in London at the Leonardo Royal Hotel, on 18 and 19 September 2025.
The conference is organised by Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) and in addition to UIC supported by; Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF), Department for Transport (DfT), The European Union Agency for Railways (ERA), Network Rail, Newcastle University, Office of Rail and Road (ORR), Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) and University of Southampton.
The conference brings together Human Factors experts and practitioners from around the world. It is the conference to hear about state-of-the-art HF in rail research and knowledge and will cover key topical issues such as human factors in design, new technologies, in-cab signalling, traffic management, competence management and safety culture. The last event in 2021 saw 200 delegates come together from around the world and it provides a unique networking opportunity.
The call for abstracts is now open on the event website, in additional to the presentation of research findings, the conference steering group is particularly keen to hear from practitioners and how they have embedded HOF principles and practices within rail projects and operations. The steering group would also encourage papers demonstrating HOF learning from operational events.
